May–June and September–October are generally considered the best months to visit Greece, offering comfortable temperatures, fewer crowds at archaeological sites, and good conditions for sightseeing, hiking, and island travel. The sea is usually warm enough for swimming from June through October. July and August are the peak season for island holidays but are also the hottest and busiest months. Winter is a quieter time to visit archaeological sites and mainland cities, although many island services operate on a reduced schedule.
