Herzegovina Adventure: A Week of Discovery

Each day starts with a warm cup of tea or coffee and a nourishing breakfast. Afterward, guests will have the opportunity to meet and bond with the horses. Once everyone is ready, we’ll set off on a short introductory ride with the group.

This ride gives guests time to see if the horses and pace suit them. Following the ride, we’ll enjoy a tasty lunch and a chance to rest and recharge. In the afternoon, we’ll go on another ride before returning for dinner and some well-deserved evening relaxation, gearing up for the adventures ahead.

After breakfast, guests will prepare for the day’s trail ride by helping to groom and ready the horses. The guide will saddle and check each horse to ensure everything is set.

Today’s ride takes us uphill through Blaževići village, passing the local church of St. Luke, the patron saint of horses and animals. Lunch will be served back at the ranch.

In the afternoon, we’ll ride to Lake Krenica. During the summer, we can pause for refreshments and photos by the lake to capture beautiful memories. Along the way, we’ll pass hay fields rich with wildlife, including rabbits, wild ducks, pheasants, and various birds.

Lake Krenica is famous for its legendary tales and its deepest point of 47 meters, believed to have no bottom. The day ends with dinner at the ranch, where your hosts will serve traditional food and drinks.

After breakfast, we’ll set off from the ranch, crossing water channels twice to reach the open Artemisia fields—a fitting name for this fragrant herb. This scenic route offers a unique experience of cantering through aromatic Artemisia, surrounded by its distinctive scent.

Lunch will be served outdoors, allowing us to relax in the shade of trees while the horses enjoy grazing. The afternoon ride continues back toward the ranch, following the water channel and passing vineyards along the way.

On the return, we’ll take a different path along several channels, with a chance to spot a herd of sheep grazing in the fields. Once home, everyone helps to remove saddles and prepare the horses for the evening. Dinner will be served at the ranch to end the day.

After breakfast, guests will begin their ride from the ranch, passing through vineyards, orchards, and fields of corn, potatoes, and wheat, depending on the season. We’ll ride through a charming village before following the uphill trail over Svetigora Hill.

Beyond the hill, we’ll arrive in the tranquil Omerovac Valley, a family-owned field nestled among four hills—Svetigora, Krstina, Ograda, and Orlov Kuk. This route features both uphill and downhill riding, with a memorable lunch break in nature on the family’s peaceful field. Here, you can experience complete serenity, free from traffic noise or modern distractions.

In the valley, we’ll rest in the cool shade of oak trees, with options to enjoy a football match or try traditional Herzegovinian games. On the way back, we’ll visit an ancient necropolis of Roman tombstones, notable for their carved symbols still visible after centuries. Before descending back to the ranch, coffee will be served to refresh everyone.

In the morning, after breakfast, you’ll prepare for today’s trail ride along the Matica River—a scenic and historic route known for hosting the 2010 National Endurance Championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We’ll enjoy a beautiful ride following the Matica River, famous for changing its name with every village it passes before flowing into the Adriatic Sea. Along the way, we’ll stop at a perfect spot to cool the horses, while riders enjoy a lunch break by the river.

Afterward, we’ll continue riding along the river and several channels before returning to the ranch, where a delicious dinner will be served to end the day.

After breakfast, we’ll prepare for the most exciting ride—circling the stunning Nuga Lake. We’ll climb a hill to reach the entrance of the famous “Ravlića pećina” cave. After exploring the cave, we’ll continue to the spring of the Matica River.

This area is known for its historic watermills, once used to grind grain for bread centuries ago. Today, visitors can see the remains of old mills and buildings. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed by the river, followed by a short visit to “Peć Mlini” Park.

After a rest, we’ll mount up again and ride back to Nuga Lake, then take a different path leading home. At the stables, we’ll unstall the horses before heading to the clubhouse for dinner.
