From UNESCO Kotor to Rural Montenegro Experience

The day is dedicated to exploring the region around Skadar Lake, located a short drive from Podgorica. The route follows the lakeshore through rural villages, with stops at panoramic viewpoints overlooking the water and surrounding landscapes, partly within Skadar Lake National Park. The journey continues into the border area, offering insight into the local way of life.

In the village of Godinje, known for its traditional stone architecture and winemaking heritage, you’ll take a short walk and have the opportunity to sample regional products. The program also includes a walk through a chestnut forest before heading further south to the coast.

In Ulcinj, you’ll explore the historic old town, a place closely connected with maritime history and legends. On the return journey, the route passes through ancient olive groves, including a stop at Stara Maslina, considered one of the oldest olive trees in Europe.

Return to Podgorica in the evening.

The day is dedicated to exploring the historical heart of Montenegro. The route leads to Lovćen Mountain, a national symbol closely connected with the country’s identity and statehood, and continues through Lovćen National Park. The program includes a visit to Cetinje, the former royal capital.

At Lovćen, participants ascend the steps to the mausoleum located at the summit. From this viewpoint, the itinerary features panoramic views over the Bay of Kotor.

The journey continues to the village of Njeguši, known for its traditional products, where there is an opportunity to sample local specialties such as smoked ham, cheese, wine, or mead.

On the way back, the route includes a stop at the Pavlova Strana viewpoint overlooking Lake Skadar, followed by a walk in the town of Rijeka Crnojevića situated on the lakeshore.

The journey begins with a drive featuring several viewpoints overlooking Lake Skadar and the Adriatic coast, followed by a stop with a view of Sveti Stefan, a former fishing settlement transformed into a resort complex.

The route continues to Kotor, where the program includes a walk through the Old Town with its narrow streets, historic squares, churches, and cathedrals. There is also an opportunity to explore the city walls, which, together with the Old Town, are protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The excursion proceeds to Perast, a baroque town known for its maritime history. From here, a short boat trip leads to the island of Our Lady of the Rocks, where participants visit the church and its museum dedicated to the history of the site.

During free time, there is an option to try local dishes in coastal restaurants, including seafood and the traditional Kotor cream pie.
