Durmitor, Canyons & Wild Rivers Adventure

The day begins with a visit to a viewpoint overlooking the deepest section of the Tara Canyon, reaching a depth of 1330 m. The program then continues with a journey along the scenic “Durmitor Ring,” an 80 km route encircling the massif and revealing its distinctive geological formations and landscapes.

Along the way, travelers will stop at panoramic viewpoints above the canyons of three rivers, offering a comprehensive impression of the region’s terrain. The route also passes traditional summer settlements known as katuns, providing insight into local mountain life, and includes a stop at a mountain restaurant where regional specialties can be sampled.

The day begins with a short transfer to a rafting camp, followed by preparation for a two-hour rafting experience on the rapids of the Tara River. After the activity, the program continues with lunch at the camp, where local dishes made from regional ingredients are served.

In the afternoon, the route includes a visit to a site with medieval tombstones known as Stećci, a UNESCO-protected heritage location, often referred to by locals as “Greek graveyards.” Along the way, travelers will also pass several glacial lakes and observe seasonal features of the local flora and fauna.

Optional activities in the second half of the day include a cable car ride to one of the peaks of the Durmitor massif or horse riding.

The day continues with further exploration of Durmitor National Park and the Tara River Canyon, including a stop at the Tara Bridge and its surrounding viewpoints. The program also includes a walk through black pine forest areas and along mountain streams.

The route then proceeds to Biogradska Gora National Park, where the visit focuses on Biogradsko Lake and the surrounding primeval forest. A walk is planned along the lake trail, with an optional canoe ride on the lake.

On the way to Podgorica, the itinerary includes a visit to the Morača Monastery, located on the banks of the Morača River and known for its frescoes and icons. The journey continues through the Morača River Canyon towards Podgorica, where accommodation is arranged in a 4-star hotel.

After breakfast, the program concludes with a transfer to the airport. The driver will assist with luggage, followed by a direct transfer for departure.
