Like turning the pages of a living history book, this two-day journey moves between stone towns, lively streets, and open coastal horizons. In a short time, it reveals Albania through changing landscapes and contrasting atmospheres, where culture and nature meet as seamlessly as mountains meet the sea.

The route begins from Saranda with a visit to Gjirokaster and its UNESCO-listed old town, shaped by stone architecture and hillside views. From there, the journey continues to Tirana, where the scene shifts to a more modern and energetic capital. The second day follows the Albanian Riviera, tracing coastal roads with wide sea views and stops near some of the region’s most appealing beaches, before returning to Saranda.

Travel is arranged in a smooth and unhurried rhythm, allowing time to enjoy each place without feeling rushed. Scenic drives, short walks, and well-chosen stops create a natural flow between destinations, keeping the focus on landscapes, towns, and the overall experience rather than on logistics.

I really believe I am lucky for being born and living in this attractive country, Albania. Passionate about the wild nature, fascinating history, and mindblowing traditions and local rules, I would be happy to welcome you to Albania and share all this beauty with you and show you around. In the 7 last year I have been exploring my country and working as a tour guide, hotel manager and welcoming service. From all my little experience so far have understood that tourism and promoting my country is something I love and enjoy so I believe I would never get tired of this. Despite my job position, I can not promise you will find me always in the office. I really enjoy guiding and highly participate in Hiking Guides around the Albanian Alps or Peaks of Balkans. Also, we travel quite a lot in cultural sites of Albania and UNESCO sites, so there is a good chance of seeing each other inside a museum, or somewhere in the evening for a Raki! Gezuar! 🙂

Route details

Day 1
Historic Gjirokaster to Vibrant Tirana

From Saranda, the route leads inland to Gjirokaster, a UNESCO-listed town known for its dramatic hillside setting and distinctive stone architecture. The visit begins at Gjirokaster Castle, where wide views open over the valley and the military museum adds historical context to the site.

Afterward, the walk continues through the Old Town with its steep cobbled streets and traditional stone houses, preserving the atmosphere of past centuries. The day in Gjirokaster is completed with a stop at the Ethnographic Museum, offering a concise insight into Albania’s history.

Leaving Gjirokaster behind, the journey continues north toward Tirana. Along the way, the scenery gradually shifts from historic towns to a more urban landscape framed by gentle hills.

In the capital, time is set aside for a walk around Skanderbeg Square, the city’s main hub. Here, key landmarks such as the National History Museum and the Et’hem Bey Mosque introduce Tirana’s character, while the mix of architecture and lively street life reflects the modern face of Albania.
