I was born in Oradea city where I live now. As a child I wandered the mountain. My parents who were professors took me with them during the summer holidays in camps organized by the Ministry of Education, where we lived three months per year from June until September. Students were coming series after series. So, get accustomed with the every day routes, I memorized them so well, that the marks were useless for me. Then came the faculty, then the job and year after year I targeted the mountains one by one followed of course with a sejour in 2 May, the hippies resort on the Black Sea coast. In 2011, I 've got the opportunity to follow a course for mountain guides, travel guides and travel agents based on European funds which I graduated in 2012. This way I started the business which is a hobby for me. I think it is the best way it might be.

Departure and Route

Hop into your private car or minivan early in the morning and drive from Oradea to Scarisoara Ice Cave, 130 km away. Follow the route through Beiuş → Ştei → Lunca Village → Arieseni (DN75) → Gârda. Enjoy the scenic villages and mountain landscapes along the way.

Hike to the Cave

Arrive in the village and climb to the mountain top at 1,165 m altitude. Descend the metal stairs along the sheer 50-meter shaft. Feel the crisp mountain air as you approach the glacier entrance and prepare for adventure.

Explore the Ice Cave

Step inside Scarisoara Cave, one of the natural wonders of the Apuseni Mountains. Marvel at stunning stalactites and stalagmites and admire the ancient ice formations. Walk through the entrance shaft and the Big Hall, then explore The Church with its hundreds of icy columns.

Learn the fascinating history: first mentioned in 1863, later studied by Emil Racoviță in the 1920s. Discover the chambers carved from Jurassic limestone over 150 million years ago.

Return to Oradea

Climb back up the stairs and return to your private vehicle. Relax and admire the mountain scenery on the journey back. Arrive in Oradea in the evening, carrying unforgettable memories of your icy adventure.
