Stand at the edge of Vikos Gorge and watch one of the deepest canyons on Earth disappear into layers of limestone, forest, and mountain shadow. Walk through the hidden heart of Zagori, where stone bridges, alpine lakes, and centuries-old paths connect remote villages beneath the peaks of the Pindus Mountains.

This self-guided journey leads you across the legendary landscapes of Epirus, from the cobbled lanes of Tsepelovo and Vitsa to the dramatic cliffs of Monodendri and the iconic towers of Papigko. Cross arched bridges built by master stonemasons, descend into the wild silence of Vikos Gorge, and climb high above the tree line to the glacial waters of Dragon Lake (Drakolimni) at 2,050 meters.

Travel independently, but with every detail carefully arranged for comfort and peace of mind. Stay in character-filled guesthouses, enjoy luggage transfers and private taxi connections, and follow the route confidently with GPS navigation, maps, and detailed notes. Designed for active travelers who love authentic mountain culture, scenic hiking, and the freedom to explore at their own rhythm.

Hi, I’m Kostas. I grew up exploring the mountains of Greece, and over time this became a lifelong passion that has taken me to mountain regions around the world. Today, I design and run multi-day hiking and biking tours across some of the most beautiful and lesser-known areas of Greece, especially in the Pindus Mountains and Zagori. My goal is simple: to offer more than just a route. I want each journey to reflect my personal approach to hiking and biking — moving at a natural pace, connecting with the landscape, and experiencing the culture along the way. From cobbled paths and stone bridges to local food and everyday life in the villages, every detail is part of the experience. Whether you join a guided group or travel at your own pace, I’m always behind the scenes (and often on the trail) making sure everything feels smooth, authentic, and well taken care of. Looking forward to welcoming you on the trail. — Kostas

Route details

Day 1
Stone Paths of Tsepelovo

Begin your journey with a private transfer from the vibrant city of Ioannina into the mountain world of Tsepelovo, the largest of the 46 Zagorochoria villages perched at 1060m. Watch the landscape transform as you rise into the heart of Epirus, where stone, forest, and silence begin to take over.

Settle into your welcoming guesthouse and take a moment to breathe in the alpine air. Wander through cobbled alleys, follow the rhythm of village life, and discover the church of Agios Nikolaos (1753), adorned with remarkable frescoes.

Slow down in the central square beneath centuries-old plane trees and let the mountain atmosphere surround you. Taste your first traditional dinner in Zagori as dusk settles over the stone rooftops.
