A remote winter world reveals a very different side of Greece — silent mountains, snow-covered forests, and vast alpine scenery far from the usual routes. This multi-day snowshoeing journey through the Pindos Mountains is designed for those seeking a true winter escape, combining adventure, solitude, and pristine nature in one continuous traverse across northern Greece.

The route moves from Metsovo into the high mountains of Lakmos and the Aoos springs region, where open ridges and quiet alpine landscapes set the tone for the journey. It continues through the untouched forests of Valia Calda and across the wide slopes of Vasilitsa, offering a true sense of remote winter wilderness. The experience concludes in Samarina and near the Smolikas massif, where traditional mountain life and the highest peaks of the Pindos range come together in a dramatic alpine setting.

The journey is on snowshoes, opening access to remote winter terrain, with traditional techniques adding a cultural dimension to the experience. Guided alpine sections and steady ascents provide a balanced mix of challenge and immersion in the winter environment, while overnight stays in mountain villages enhance the sense of authentic high-altitude life.
