Sarajevo Ride and Slide

Riding: ~2 hours

After breakfast, you’ll head to the stables to meet the horses and get comfortable in the saddle. We'll assess the group’s riding abilities to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Once you're matched with your horse—your companion for the week—we’ll set off on a gentle two-hour ride through the surrounding countryside. This introductory ride is all about building trust and connection with your horse while enjoying the peaceful winter scenery.

After the ride, we return to the farm for a freshly prepared lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll drive into Sarajevo for a guided two-hour walking tour through the city’s historic center. You’ll discover the stories, culture, and charm of this city that once hosted the Winter Olympics and has long stood at the crossroads of East and West.

Immerse yourself in the true spirit of Bosnian winter with a full day of snow riding through pristine forests and open meadows near our equestrian center. Our gentle, well-trained horses and cozy blankets will keep you warm and comfortable as you explore untouched snowy trails—especially magical in January when forestry and farming activities cease, leaving the landscape serene and silent.

During this extended ride, we’ll pause for a picnic by a crackling campfire inside a rustic wooden shelter designed specifically for winter excursions. Here, you can savor authentic regional flavors while enjoying the warmth of the fire and the camaraderie of your fellow riders. After returning to the farm, a delicious lunch awaits you, fueling you for the next adventure: night skiing on the Olympic slopes of Jahorina.

Gliding down the mountain under a canopy of stars, you’ll experience an exhilarating rush, blending the peacefulness of winter nights with the thrill of skiing. Afterward, we’ll return to the ranch for a light dinner and a glass of mulled wine by the fireplace in the cozy living room above the horse stalls. This unforgettable day will leave you with lasting memories and a profound appreciation for the breathtaking beauty and excitement of winter in Bosnia.

Riding: 4–5 hours
Skiing: 2 hours

Today offers an exciting new challenge for most of our riders: ski joering—a thrilling way to combine horseback riding and skiing! Our Bosnian horse breeds, known for their strength and experience with forest work like hauling logs and carriages, are perfectly suited for this unique activity. Many guests find themselves quickly mastering ski joering and loving the experience.

We begin with ski joering lessons in a specially designed riding area with obstacles, helping you gain confidence before heading out on forest trails. Strap on your skis, connect the harness to your horse, and get ready for a fun ride! For those who prefer a more traditional experience, there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy peaceful rides through snowy glades and trails around the farm.

After a hearty lunch, we’ll head to the iconic Olympic Mountain Jahorina for a half-day of skiing. Jahorina features a balanced mix of runs for all skill levels—from gentle beginner slopes to challenging black runs—and includes the newly developed beginner’s area as well as the very pistes where the women’s events were held during the 1984 Winter Olympics.

Riding/Ski Joering: 3–4 hours
Skiing: 3 hours

On this day, we’ll continue the ski joering adventure, venturing further along scenic trails toward the majestic peaks of Bjelašnica. With both horses and riders well-rested, those who prefer traditional horseback riding can join the group on horseback, while others continue with ski joering.

After a rewarding half-day of skiing or ski joering, we’ll shift our focus to an afternoon session on Bjelašnica’s slopes. This mountain, which hosted the men’s alpine skiing events—including downhill, slalom, and giant slalom—during the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics, offers a thrilling mix of terrain.

Once remote and known for its harsh winters, Bjelašnica was traditionally visited only by the most dedicated hikers, hunters, and explorers. Today, it welcomes adventurers like you to experience its rugged beauty and Olympic legacy.

At day’s end, we’ll return to our cozy ranch—your home away from home—feeling tired but deeply satisfied after an exhilarating day in the mountains.

Riding/Ski Joering: 3 hours

After several days of riding, we’ll take a leisurely journey to a cozy campsite nestled deep within the forest. As we gather around the campfire, we’ll swap stories from our adventures and toast with a glass of mulled wine to celebrate the memories made and the rides yet to come.

The best part of this journey is still ahead: a visit to a nearby luxurious 5-star resort, where you can soothe your tired muscles and unwind completely. Enjoy the calming aromas of the saunas, soak in the heated pool’s comforting warmth, and let the expert hands of a skilled masseuse restore your body and spirit.

Riding: 3–4 hours

After breakfast, you’ll have a final chance to say farewell to the horses before we transfer you back to the airport or your accommodation in Sarajevo.
