From Durmitor Highlands to Kotor Bay

Start the day with a scenic hike through the high-altitude hamlets of Durmitor National Park, following a circular route along the Strmna ridges. The trail passes by Oko Lake, offering wide mountain panoramas throughout the walk.

Continue the descent through dense spruce forests toward Novoselj Lake, where a short break is planned by the water. Transfer by vehicle to Black Lake, the most iconic glacial lake in the region.

Optional stop in a nearby town for a short break before returning to the farmhouse.

Hiking time: approx. 5 hours (loop hike, ascent +450 m / descent -600 m).
Dinner and overnight at the farmhouse.

Transfer to the alpine pastures of Jakičevići, located between the Tara Canyon and Šurička Canyon.

Follow an accessible loop trail along the canyon edges, with open views across both gorges and surrounding highland landscapes.

Return to the farmhouse in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the farmhouse.

Hiking time: approx. 5 hours (ascent +600 m / descent -600 m).

Enter the remote heart of Durmitor National Park, an isolated alpine zone with an ancient glacial cirque at the junction of several valleys. Meet Vuk or his son Pero at a traditional mountain sheepfold.

Continue the hike with an option to ascend toward Bear Peak (Durmitor) and a high mountain pass, or follow an alternative route via the abandoned katun of Lokrnjice.

Both routes descend through karst terrain back toward Black Lake, where there may be time for a short break or swim, depending on conditions.

Return to the farmhouse in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the farmhouse.

Approach the western side of Durmitor National Park to begin a high-altitude hike across two mountain passes, leading toward Bobotov Kuk (2522 m), the highest point of the itinerary. The route follows a succession of alpine valleys before reaching the rocky base of the peak.

Final ascent to the summit involves a short scramble to the top. Picnic break at the summit.

Descent continues through the distinctive geological formations of Šarene Kobile, known for their layered rock patterns, before reaching the end point of the hike.

On the return, pass by Potokćina Lake, with an optional stop at Crno Jezero for a short swim, depending on conditions. Return to the farmhouse for dinner and overnight. Alternative easier route available.

Hiking time: approx. 5 hours (distance ~12 km; ascent +850 m / descent -900 m).

Departure from Durmitor National Park with a transfer south toward the Bay of Kotor. The route crosses central Montenegro before reaching the entrance of Bay of Kotor.

From there, begin a hike up to the Austrian fort of Fort Stikmač, overlooking the bay’s access channel. The viewpoint offers wide panoramas over the Lovćen Mountains and the Adriatic coastline.

Return to the vehicle and transfer to Kotor (approx. 30 minutes). Arrival and check-in at a 3-star hotel located near the Old Town walls.

Morning in the historic center of Kotor, followed by a walking tour of its medieval fortifications. Ascend via lesser-known paths to the upper sections of the city walls, entering through hidden passages and continuing along the ramparts before descending back into the Old Town.

In the afternoon, transfer to Perast, a coastal town known for its historic architecture and waterfront setting. From there, take a short boat trip to visit Our Lady of the Rocks, located on an artificial islet in the bay.

Free time by the sea with the possibility to swim, before returning to Kotor in the late afternoon. Evening at leisure to further explore the Old Town.

Overnight in Kotor at a 3-star hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant.

Free morning in Kotor. Depending on departure times, optional time to explore the Old Town or enjoy the waterfront of the Bay of Kotor.

Transfer to either Podgorica Airport or Tivat Airport for departure.
