Back in the city, the day ends somewhere unexpected. Dinner is served in a repurposed military base — history reimagined, atmosphere included. A bold setting, good food, and a perfect close to the day.

Begin in Kruja, the hometown of Albania’s national hero, Skanderbeg. Explore the castle and wander through the medieval bazaar, where crafts and stories stretch back centuries.

Then head north to Shkodra. Climb up to Rozafa Castle and take in sweeping views of lakes, rivers, and mountains meeting below. A place to pause, look out, and feel the scale of the landscape.

As evening falls, we slow the pace. Dinner is served at an agritourism farm, with traditional dishes and panoramic views over the city and surrounding hills. A calm, grounding end to a history-filled day.

Head north on a scenic drive into the Albanian Alps. Stop in the riverside village of Tamara, then continue on to Lepushe, where the mountains really take over.

Set out on Albania’s most famous alpine hike. Six to seven hours across high passes, with sweeping views at every turn. Breathe in the mountains, feel the fresh air, and let the scenery sink in.

After the canyon,head to Vlora, where the Adriatic meets the Ionian. Stretch your legs along the coast, feel the sea breeze, and let the sunset set the tone.
